Australian singer-songwriter, Tori Darke has released her first new single in six years – and Countrytown is elated to bring you the accompanying music video in this exclusive premiere.

Sit In A Bar is Tori’s debut under her new deal with Catherine Britt’s Beverley Hillbilly Records. Penned by the 31-year-old along with Jason Duke and Johnny Simmen a few years back when Tori spent three months writing in Nashville, the song came from an idea of being in a bar and not getting drunk, not hooking up or anything else you could go to a bar for.

Tori says, “Sit In A Bar is a very true reflection of a point in my life when I was lost and heartbroken and one of the toughest things I have overcome. It’s raw and real emotion. Most people have felt heartbreak at least once and there are days when you just don’t want to be alone sitting with the emptiness that is a breakup. Sit In A Bar talks about being surrounded by others who are going through the same thing and just want to sit in a bar with others like you”.

The music video was produced by Jay Seeney at Blacklist Productions. Watch it below!

Tori began singing at ten years old and competing in local talent competitions when she was a child. She released her self-titled EP in 2009 and debut album, Dreams & Chances in 2011. It reached #5 on the Australian ARIA Country charts and #10 on the International ARIA charts, with all five singles from the album hitting the Top 10, with three charting at #1.

Her second album, Silver Lining launched to a sold-out audience in Sydney on its release, debuting at #1 on the Australian ARIA Charts, #3 on the Australian ARIA All Genres Chart, and #9 on the ARIA International Country Charts. The album led to her being a top five finalist in the ‘Female Artist of the Year’ category at the 2016 Golden Guitar Awards. She was also nominated for ‘Female Artist of the Year’ and ‘Oz Artist of the Year’ at the 2016 CMC Awards.

The 2009 Academy of Country Music graduate has performed at some of Australia’s most prestigious festivals including CMC Rocks The Hunter, Deni Ute Muster and the Gympie Music Muster, also travelling to Canada to perform at The Merrit Mountain Country Music Festival as one of the opening artists for Kenny Chesney. She has shared the stage with both International and Australian artists including Doc Walker, JoDee Messina, Pam Tillis, Johnny Reid, Emerson Drive, The Steve Miller Band, Corb Lund, The McClymonts, Troy Cassar-Daly, McAlister Kemp, Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Amber Lawrence and Travis Collins.

You may also recognise Tori from her performance with Keith Urban on Channel 7’s popular competition series, The Voice Australia last year. The spontaneous duet of Stupid Boy went viral and shot the song back onto the charts years after release.
