More Dan Davidson More Dan Davidson

Canada's Dan Davidson and Australia's Hayley Jensen have teamed up on their new catchy country-pop single. Written by Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Trevor Rosen, Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You is a fun, cheeky song about trying to figure out the answer to the question, “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” It’s our Song of the Day!

The music video was shot and directed by Travis Nesbitt just outside of Dan's hometown, St Albert, Alberta. The synopsis includes Dan driving out into the country with some old and antique furniture, where he sets up a living room in a field in the middle of nowhere, performing to Hayley (in Australia) who sings back at him from a retro TV set.

Dan says, "I’ve shot music videos all over the world ... everywhere from Japan to California to France ... and finally I got to shoot one in my own back yard! It isn’t easy shooting a video for a song that’s been done with someone half way around the world, but my director and I came up with something cool (and very country) that worked out perfectly! Typically, my music videos haven’t reflected a very “country music” visual - this time around I figured I would utilize the open fields, endless sky, and sleepy backroads that the Canadian prairies have to offer."

Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You follows on from both artist's recent successful country hits, Dan's Roll With It (featuring The Road Hammers) and Hayley's Karma

Dan has scored 6 CCMA nominations, 10 ACMA awards, a gold record, a #1 selling Canadian song and record, and top 20 charting numbers, it’s an impressive feat for the independent country artist who is still only five years into his country career, following his over ten years playing in indie rock band Tupelo Honey. While on tour with Brett Kissel in 2019, Dan’s EP Juliet was released, and debuted at #1 on the Canadian iTunes Country charts. He has recently been writing for/with Gord Bamford, Tim Hicks, W3apons, The Congregation, Chad Brownlee, The Standstills and more.
