We think seventeen-year-old, emerging singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Callista Clark is an artist you’re going to love! Her sassy, confident single, It’s ‘Cause I Am radiates female empowerment and sees her take ownership of her creative ambitions. It’s our Song of the Day!
Written by Callista with Cameron Jaymes and Laura Veltz, It’s ‘Cause I Am is the lead single from her debut EP, Real To Me. Callista was inspired to write the song after she was criticised by a stranger simply for being a young girl with big dreams. The single is currently sitting at #37 on the US Country Airplay chart.
Callista said, “I knew I wanted to call this collection, Real to Me. It was the second co-write I ever had, so I just wanted to keep putting things in there that showed different sides of me and different songs that had their own personality. It’s 'Cause I Am is definitely the more confident, sarcastic side of me, sassy side of me, and so I feel like that’s the best way to start off something.”
Raised in Georgia, Callista wrote her first song at the age of 11, and grew up singing at a church where her grandfather was a pastor. She gained fame with a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Have You Ever Seen The Rain? posted on Facebook, which received 27 million views.
