Alt-country, Americana singer-songwriter, Andy Penkow and songstress Della Harris have teamed up for the stunning new ballad How Many Times, and Countrytown has your first listen as well as your first look at its accompanying music video – it’s also our Song of the Day!
Produced by Rod Motbey at Tracking Dog Studios on the NSW South Coast and mastered in Nashville by Steve Carrao, How Many Times was co-written by Andy with Golden Guitar-winning artist David Carter, Kath Stewart, and Kalesti Butler.
Andy says, “The idea was based around a previous relationship of mine. It’s about the journeys of two different people coming out of the same relationship. One half is finding it hard to let go and move on while the other has closed the door and is getting on with life.”
After Andy had the initial idea, the song was later finished at a songwriter’s retreat in Melbourne, resulting in a modern country song with all the hallmarks of a classic feel. When the idea emerged that the track would be a good duet, Andy says making the call to the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter was an easy decision.

He says, “I am blessed to have the amazing Della Harris sing it with me. I love the vibe she added to the song – it unquestionably paints a picture of lost love.”
Filmed and produced by three-time Golden Guitar nominated producer, Jay Seeney, the music video also tells the sad journey of a relationship that has ended.
How Many Times follows Andy’s previous single, Protected Love – which we premiered here in January. The JMC Academy graduate released his debut album Sad Love Songs in 2018, followed by his 2020 5-track EP Chasing the Sun, produced by ARIA Award winner Shane Nicholson. He ended the year on a high being nominated for the APRA AMCOS TSA ‘New Songwriter of the Year’ award and with 10 weeks of charting in the Country Songs Top 40 and national airplay off the back of his Top 20 hit, The Biggest Hearts Can Break.
Della's Raining On My Wedding Day single release followed an incredibly successful 2020 Tamworth Festival where she won the award for ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ at the People’s Choice Awards, celebrated her first national #1 single and was invited to share some of the biggest stages around Tamworth with some of Australia's best acts including Jetty Road, Kristy Cox, Carter & Carter and Brad Butcher. She Said What? is the latest drop from her forthcoming album, which features the singles My Turn Now, Long As You’re Lonely, Roll Of A Dice, Must Have Been The Wine and Raining On My Wedding Day – all top 5 chart hits.
