We premiere the music video for 'Head Full of Honey', the third single from the highly anticipated album by 2x Golden Guitar winner, Andrew Swift.
It feels like every week, we feature Andrew Swift in some way. Previously, we’ve interviewed him, premiered his Right On Down music video, learned what he takes on the road, he’s been our Artist of the Week and has appeared in numerous articles and festival announcements – and now, we have the greatest pleasure of being able to share the music video for Head Full Of Honey. It's also our Song of the Day!
Co-written with Billie-Jo Porter and produced by Matt Fell at Love Hz Studios in Sydney, Head Full of Honey offers up an earthy, rollicking ode to lovesickness peppered with mandolin and fiddle. The track is the third single from his forthcoming album, The Art of Letting Go, due for release June 11.
The music video was directed by Aaron Carroll, and features a special appearance by actress Kym Valentine, who many will remember as Libby Kennedy from the long-running TV soap, Neighbours.
Andrew says, “In a song where I channelled my awkward teenage self about having a crush on someone and not knowing what to do about it, who better to star in the clip than my actual teen celebrity crush? I pretty much just watched Neighbours because of Kym Valentine, so to have her in this music video was a no brainer. We randomly became really good friends over social media during lockdown and Kym didn't hesitate jumping on board this project. I pitched the idea to Aaron, of me trying to impress Kym by dancing, like a bird's mating dance, but I'm so glad the producers evolved that concept into what it is now, I'm not much of a dancer and the dancing I did do felt awkward enough.”

Kym adds, “I adore Andrew's music and think he's extremely talented. I'm very fortunate that over the past 12 months, he's become one of my closest friends and when I heard the first demo of Head Full of Honey, I instantly fell in love with it, it had me right from the start. So, when Andrew approached me about working on this project with him, I jumped at the opportunity. I had so much fun on the shoot, we all had a ton of laughs on set and I think that comes through in the final edit.”
Andrew Swift has gone from strength to strength since finding his feet in the Australian country music scene as a Toyota Starmaker grand finalist in 2017. With his debut country album, Call Out For The Cavalry debuting at #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Charts, the Matt Fell produced record saw 5 singles lifted for release, including Runaway Train, Fire & Ice (feat. Catherine Britt) and King of the Sky. The album also netted Andrew two Golden Guitars at the 2019 CMAA Awards – for 'Qantas New Talent of the Year' and 'Alternative Country Album of the Year'.
Head Full of Honey currently sits at #7 on the Countrytown Music Network Hot 50 chart and follows previous singles, Never Meant To Break Your Heart and Right On Down, which peaked at the no. 4 and no. 9 spots on the Country Music National Airplay chart respectively – delivering Andrew his third, fourth and fifth top 10 singles in the past three years.
