Anna Vaus (Anna Vaus)
Our Song of the Day is the relatable Girl In A Bar by singer-songwriter Anna Vaus, one of five songs off her forthcoming EP. Produced and written by Anna with GRAMMY-winning songwriter/producer, Luke Laird, the Girl In A Bar title and storyline was literally ‘dreamed up’ in a random dream.
Anna told Music Row, “I had the idea for the title Girl in a Bar after having a dream that I dated Harry Styles and he broke up with me—very normal, it’s fine. I was lucky enough to write and produce it with Luke Laird, who is one of my heroes. This song is so special to me and I am so psyched for it to be out in the world now.”
The music video was directed by her brother Jacob Vaus, a film school university student, and filmed on a mock bar set up on a vacant lot in Poway, California due to bars being closed because of the pandemic.
Last Month, Girl In A Bar was named as one of Rolling Stone’s “must-hear” country picks of the week. The track has over 30,000 plays on Spotify, and follows her previous singles Champagne Problems and In Bloom.

In 2016, the Nashville-based but Poway-native was chosen by Miranda Lambert as the first recipient of the ‘Miranda Lambert Women Creators Fund’ which awards a female singer/songwriter a scholarship to attend Belmont University. She signed a publishing deal with Black River Entertainment in 2017 and was later chosen as one of six up-and-coming songwriters in AIMP’s Class of 2018 as well as one of CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2019.
Anna has opened for many major country artists such as Lee Ann Womack, Jon Pardi, Old Dominion, Hunter Hayes, and Willie Nelson, and played at various Nashville venues including the iconic Bluebird Café. The 24-year-old also released her five-track debut EP, The California Kid in 2018.
