Before I Met You joins the forces of New Zealand’s award-winning country-pop singer-songwriter Kaylee Bell and Australian sister trio The McClymonts in an upbeat, energy-driven song that showcases a natural blend and alignment between the two artists.
Before I Met You was written by Kaylee Bell and Simon Oscroft during lockdown and produced by Australian ARIA winning producer Andy Mak. It’s our Song of the Day!
Kaylee's relationship with The McClymonts dates back ten years with both Sam McClymont and Kaylee having won the prestigious Toyota Star Maker in Australia. She went on to tour extensively with The McClymonts around Australia forming a friendship and respect for each other's music.
Kaylee says, "It is no secret that I have always been the biggest fan of The McClymonts. After seeing their live show when I was 18, they inspired me to pursue a career in country music as I instantly loved their sound and live energy. When I wrote the song, I could hear their voices all over the track, so I sent it to them, and was so stoked when they agreed to join me on this really special collaboration.”

Before I Met You is the fourth single off Kaylee’s upcoming album, scheduled for release in September. It follows her current single That Summer featuring Nashville-native singer-songwriter, Josh Mirenda that has had ground-breaking success at NZ mainstream radio, playlisted on two mainstream stations ZM, MORE FM and playing on The Edge and The Hits. The song has stayed in the shazam Top 200 chart for three months and was 'the most added song to radio ahead of US mainstream and label artists including Pink, Keith Urban and Ragonbone.
Also, as well as being invited to perform the #1 single We Were Us with Urban on his Light The Fuse World Tour of Australia in 2014 and again on his 2016 ripCORD World Tour in Wellington, Kaylee has opened for Alan Jackson, Lee Kernaghan, The McClymonts, Morgan Evans and The Chicks.
Comprised of sisters Brooke, Sam and Mollie, the McClymonts’ sixth studio album Mayhem to Madness debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart and was recently announced as the second highest selling Australian country album for 2020, just behind Urban’s The Speed of Now Part 1. The album also received a nomination for the 2020 ARIA Award for Best Country Album.
