Gabrielle says, “Bad is an autobiographical song, so I really wanted to try to put that part of my story into a video. It talks about me being so conflicted trying to figure out what God actually views as ‘bad.' Going to church isn't bad, however, there are so many that have been hurt by people in it and ultimately pulled away from their beliefs because of a bad experience. For me, Jesus found me in a broken place and took that pain. He doesn’t care what you look like, He cares about the heart. I hope you can see mine in this video."
Born in a little town on the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma, Gabrielle would travel with the family band including brother, Shay – one half of the award-winning Dan + Shay – to perform at church on Sundays. At 17, she joined a Southern rock band, performing at dive bars in the Southeast.
After moving to Nashville in 2018, she made a name for herself as a songwriter under the pen name ‘Lyrx’, working alongside Grammy Award-winning producer Shane McAnally and Walker Hayes to co-write Walker’s 2018 single 90’s Country. Bad follows her self-penned debut single, Come On In and Pray For You.
