Mackenzie Lee and Lucy Beveridge are on the fast track to country music stardom after taking out top honours at the 2025 Mothertone Gympie Music Muster Talent Search. Lee claimed the Open section win, while Beveridge impressed in the Junior category. Grace Alexandra was also recognised, receiving the Encouragement Award.

The Gympie Music Muster has long been a launchpad for rising talent, with Lee returning after winning the Encouragement Award in 2024 to take the main prize this year.

“The judges had a tough job, with all the finalists very close in the end,” said Mothertone’s Michael Turner. “The quality of performances was remarkable and showed just how bright the future of country music is.”

For Lee, a singer-songwriter from the Hunter Valley, the win was nothing short of surreal. “I was amazed - I wasn’t expecting it,” she said. “Everyone else was amazing, and it took me a second to realise it was my name. Winning this has made me go, ‘I can do this, this is what I want to do and keep going with it.’”

Her prize includes mentoring, career development, and a trip to Nashville - a dream come true. “I’ve never left my home country before, to go straight to the country music capital of America is incredible.”

Beveridge, hailing from Lake Macquarie, made her Gympie debut with impact. “Playing with the band was incredible - it’s not every day you get to perform with such amazing musicians,” she said. “I wanted to get out there and share my music.”
