Will Day Drops Emotional New Single “Home Town”

Brisbane-based country artist Will Day is back at it again - but this time with a twist, dropping a new ballad, Home Town, today (August 30).

Changing tune from his regular upbeat tracks, Home Town is a more emotional song, a heartfelt story about a person returning to their hometown, only to miss the person that is meant to be there with them.

“I’m known for releasing country rockers, so I thought it was time for a ballad again, as it’s been a few years,” Day said. “It’s a really emotive song that creates some strong imagery, so I’m looking forward to my listeners hearing it for the first time.”

Written on his recent trip to Nashville, Day collaborated with Philadelphia icon Bill DiLuigi and songwriting extraordinaire Scott Barrier to bring Home Town to life, while 2023's GCMA Producer of the Year Jared Adlam produced it.

“Home Town was the first track written on the trip. It was a pleasure to collaborate with Bill and Scott, they’re amazing writers,” Day said. “Jared Adlam has done a fantastic job on the production, as usual.”

It’s all happening right now for Day, who was just added to Groundwater Country Music Festival’s line-up, alongside country icons like Kasey Chambers, Tim Hicks, Shannon Noll and Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham.

He was also recently announced as the only Australian finalist in the Country category for the prestigious Nashville based 2024 Unsigned Only Competition, sister competition to the International Songwriting Competition. Day’s previous single, Find Me A Dirt Road, is potentially up for a prize of $20,000 USD.
