The highly anticipated line-up for Stagecoach 2027 dropped on Monday (14 September), and, as always, there’s plenty for everyone: country devotee or casual listener alike.
But, looking at the headliners for the California-based country festival – Garth Brooks, Riley Green, and Zach Top, plus a reunited Florida Georgia Line on the “Late Night on Mustang” portion of the line-up – we feel there’s been a missed opportunity.
A woman headlining Stagecoach in 2027 would have been fantastic. And we’re not just saying that for “diversity” quotas.
Who’s had the most successful hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this year? Ella Langley, whose Choosin’ Texas has tied the all-time Hot 100 record with Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. The track has just entered its 22nd week at #1 in the US.
Ella Langley isn’t the only woman who’s had an incredible year on the charts and is bringing more ears to country music. How about Kacey Musgraves, who had a viral hit with the cheeky Mexico Honey this year? Her latest album, Middle of Nowhere, charted within the top ten in Scotland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Lainey Wilson would have been another great pick; the multiple ACM Award winner is still riding waves of success since the release of her 2024 album, Whirlwind. Even Shania Twain would have been a delight, and she hasn’t appeared at Stagecoach since 2017.
While Stagecoach could have booked a woman to headline one of the days of its 2027 festival – and we acknowledge that the artists we’ve mentioned may have scheduling commitments that clash with the event (at the time of publication, their schedules are free in April 2027) – bookers have done well with the undercard.
Artists including Dasha, Stella Lefty, Gretchen Wilson, Kaitlin Butts, Carter Faith, Kelly Clarkson, Melissa Etheridge, Laci Kaye Booth, Mackenize Carpenter, The Tedeschi Trucks Band – led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks – and many others feature on the line-up.
