Fan Throws Folding Chair Into Crowd At Treaty Oak Revival Show

Things took a turn for the potentially scary at a recent Treaty Oak Revival show, when a fan threw a folding chair into the audience.

As Whiskey Riff notes, the band’s 2021 song Boomtown often draws somewhat rowdy behaviour from fans, with Treaty Oak Revival getting punters up the front started with a beer shower.

However, during their performance at Rock The Country in Hastings, Michigan, last weekend (9 August), the usual good-natured fan behaviour changed when someone in the audience hurled a foldable chair ahead of them.

Whiskey Riff reports that the chair that was thrown ended up hitting “multiple fans… standing ten or so rows in front of him.”

With footage of the moment now on social media, fans made Morgan Wallen jokes—calling back to when the country music superstar threw a chair from the roof of Eric Church’s bar, Chief’s, in downtown Nashville.

And while Treaty Oak Revival’s Sam Canty and Lance Vanley have previously condemned certain behaviours at their shows, they haven’t responded to this latest incident. You can see footage of the chair throw below.

Treaty Oak Revival’s latest album, West Texas Degenerate, was released last November. A month before, the band made their Australian debut when they headed Down Under for their first-ever headline shows. They also performed at the inaugural Strummingbird Festival.

Known for fusing Texas Red Dirt country with southern rock grit and a dose of punk spirit, Treaty Oak Revival have built a devoted fanbase with their unapologetically raw sound and no-frills live show. With viral momentum behind them and streaming numbers on the rise, they’ve carved out a space that’s uniquely their own in the country rock landscape.

For their first Australian shows, they were joined by homegrown country star Wade Forster, who went on to open for them in the US earlier this year.
