It marks another milestone for TJ since publicly coming out.
Earlier this month, Brothers Osborne won their first GRAMMY Award for ‘Best Country Duo/Group Performance’ for Younger Me. The win took place a little over a year after TJ came out as the first publicly gay man signed to a major country music record label in 2021.
Accepting the award, TJ said, “For those of you who do not know, [Younger Me] was written really in response to me coming out. I never thought I would be able to do music professionally because of my sexuality, and I certainly never thought it would be here on this stage accepting a GRAMMY, after having done something, I felt like was going to be life changing, potentially in a very negative way. And here I am tonight, not only accepting this GRAMMY award with my brother [John Osborne] who I love so much, but I’m here with a man who I love and who loves me back. I don’t know what I did to be so lucky.”
TJ recently teamed with Country Notable, Jillian Jacqueline on her debut album Honestly. Set for release on June 10, Jacqueline shared the duet, titled Better with a Broken Heart, co-written with Tofer Brown and Adam James, with the album’s announcement.
Jacqueline says, “I’m thrilled to have TJ of the Brothers Osborne singing with me on it. I’ve always loved that resonant voice of his, with this emotional tremor to it. He really nailed it in the studio, and hearing us together on the chorus just gives me chills.”
