Thomas Rhett has announced he will be releasing two albums in 2022.
His sixth studio album, Where We Started will be released in early 2022, and will feature his new single, Slow Down Summer. Written on retreat in Montana with frequent collaborators Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, Sean Douglas and his father Rhett Akins, the song was produced by Dann Huff and Frasure.
Thomas said of the song, “I wrote this song from the point of view of two people who are in love during senior year of high school. I envisioned them headed off to different schools, and they’re starting to understand that the moment the weather starts to change, they’ve got a 99-percent chance this relationship is not going to work. I know that myself and a lot of people have been there before, wishing the fireworks stage doesn’t have to end.”

I remember being at a writer’s retreat, looking out at the changing leaves & asking summer to slow down...and this song was born. Now, it's that time of year again & I’m so excited to have it out for y’all. Listen to here: https://t.co/jaigKY7VnOhttps://t.co/dcPuYM49se

Originally scheduled for release at the end of this year, the second album to be released in late 2022 is Side B of his Country Again double project. Side A was released in April 2021, and features the singles What’s Your Country Song and Country Again, as well as the collaboration Put It On Ice featuring HARDY.
He said, “Country Again: Side A to me feels like coming home. These were the things 19-year-old me wanted to be able to say, sing, and share with y’all but hadn’t lived the life enough to do it yet. It’s about the crazy journey that took me out into the world over the last ten years and ultimately brought me back home, more centred and content than ever, with a deep understanding for what’s important in life. I’ve had a blast sharing some of these songs in their acoustic form during quarantine and am blown away by the reaction the fans have already shown.”
