This Week’s Hot Country Hits: Kelsea Ballerini, Homegrown Trio, Jen Mize & More

Gosh dang, what a week it’s been for scorchin’ new country tunes! Not only were we blessed with spicy new releases from some of Australia’s finest up-and-comers, like Homegrown Trio (who just dropped Call It Magic), Jen Mize (who went all out with My Buzz) and Cassidy-Rae (whose new cut Good Night is destined to be a hit), but the international heavyweights were out in full force: Kelsea Ballerini came in guns blazing with her wicked new collab with Noah Kahan, Cowboys Cry Too, while Bailey Zimmerman delivered another instant classic in New To Country, and Yung Gravy got his fans going absolutely mental with Lone Ranger.

With all of that in mind, now seems like as good a time as any to remind you – or clue you in, if you didn’t know already – that we have our very own playlist dedicated to bringing you the best new music from all corners of the country music landscape, fittingly named Hot Country Hits Australia. Never did we think we’d get the opportunity to be in a room with Dann Huff, Nathan Chapman and Joy Williams, let alone getting to work alongside them. This group of people are so kind, passionate and caring, and made this entire process so special! We are so proud of this record, and so excited for you to blast Call It Magic.”

Jen Mize – My Buzz

WHAT SHE SAYS: “I was at a party, having a few chats and unfortunately reminded myself of that [Saturday Night Live] sketch character Debbie Downer. I was in the middle of a conversation, taking a seriously bleak look on the world and realised what a buzzkill I was being... I was embarrassed, and took note later to write this song to myself as a reminder to be a little less like Debbie Downer and Chicken Little, running around saying the sky is falling when it really isn’t. My Buzz is about the power of perspective... the type of ‘don’t bring me down’ kind of message that the world could use a little more of at the moment! Here’s to living the best life one ‘busy little honeybee’ can!”
