The CCMAs will be handed out September 11 in Calgary.
With seven nominations, singer-songwriter Tenille Townes leads the Canadian Country Music Association Awards (CCMAs).
The Alberta native is up for the coveted ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award alongside Tenille Arts, James Barker Band, Brett Kissel and Dallas Smith. Townes is also nominated for ‘Female Artist of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’ for Masquerades, released in April 2022.
“Masquerades is me setting aside the smiling face I hide behind sometimes and letting the world see more of who I am. In this process, I realised that I am two different people, and I struggle between those two often,” Townes shared in a press release. “I am the introverted songwriter and the fiery performer, and both are true to who I am. I look forward to showing more of these sides in my music and live performances. Music has always been a bridge for me between both of these sides, and I hope this music can help others who can relate.”
Townes will also compete for ‘Female Artist of the Year’ with Lindsay Ell, Tenille Arts, Megan Patrick and Robyn Ottolini, while vying for the title of ‘Male Artist of the Year’ are Dean Brody, Jade Eagleson, Brett Kissel, Tyler Joe Miller and Dallas Smith.
You guys! This is pretty wild! I’m staring at this @ccmaofficial nominations list and thinking about how this girl who didn’t care, singing songs in her room as a kid, would be losing her mind to know this is all real right now. Can’t wait to see everybody in Calgary at the show! pic.twitter.com/yXBxptCBFU
