Taylor Swift will make her film-directing debut soon, Searchlight Pictures has revealed.

The You Belong With Me singer will adapt a screenplay she wrote herself, while Searchlight will produce the film. Not Taylor Swift's first time directing; she's currently campaigning for an Oscar nomination for Best Live-Action Short Film for writing and directing All Too Well: The Short Film

The extended version of the song, which premiered late last year, is a take on Swift's 2012 classic from her album Red and confirmed longtime fan theories about the "All Too Well ten-minute version".

Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield said about Swift: "Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey."

Taylor Swift's latest hit, Anti-Hero, from her tenth album Midnights, is her longest-running #1 in Australia after spending four weeks atop the ARIA Singles Chart. She finally unveiled her highly anticipated record in October this year.

Following the story of 13 sleepless nights that the US megastar has had throughout her life, leading to self-discovery and reclamation, Midnights was revealed back in August during a surprise appearance at the VMAs.

Swift’s latest offering saw her partner with Jack Antonoff once more, with the singer today noting, “This is our first album we’ve done with just the two of us as main collaborators.”

Midnights also features Lana Del Rey, Zoe Kravitz and more alongside Swift's partner, actor Joe Alwyn, who is credited for co-writing on Sweet Nothing after previously collaborating on folklore and evermore.

Swift also released a deluxe edition to Midnights entitled the 3 am edition.

Taking to social media, Swift described Midnights as a "complete concept album" but said that she enjoys sharing the creative process with fans.

"Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour," she wrote. Continuing, "However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13. I'm calling them 3am tracks. Lately I've been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks. So it's 3am and I'm giving them to you now."
