“Friday night I was next to the stage, and then Saturday night, I had almost a better view.”

More Taylor Swift More Taylor Swift

One smart Swiftie made it his mission to attend Taylor’s recent shows in Nashville – despite missing out on tickets – so he did what any normal fan would: he applied to be a security guard for two gigs, earned the job, and watched the megastar shine from the best spot in the whole arena.

Swift performed three sold-out shows at Nashville’s Nissan Arena – breaking the venue’s all-time attendance record – over May 5-7. The fan in question, Davis Perrigo, attended the first two shows, telling his local news station (News Channel 5), “Friday night I was next to the stage, and then Saturday night, I had almost a better view.”

Perrigo works as an accountant by day, but chose to try his luck as a security guard when he was unable to purchase tickets for the shows. Footage of him singing along to Swift’s setlist went viral on TikTok, and according to the megafan himself, he was even pulled up by her own security team for being too enthusiastic. “I actually got reprimanded by Taylor’s security,” he noted, “saying that I was going too hard and I needed to take it down a notch.”

Elsewhere in his segment on the news, Perrigo waxed lyrical on his love for Swift and the subsequent virality of his stunt: “My wife jokes that I sing Taylor Swift songs with such passion for someone who's never been broken up with… I showed someone at work, like, 'Hey, this video got 10,000 views,' and then by that night, it was over one million. I was like, “OMG, this is out of control!’”

Earlier this month, Swift revealed on the Eras tour that her third re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), will officially arrive in July. The news comes amid fervid rumours that she’s secretly dating The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
