Last week, Canadian country music “It Girl” Sacha made her Grand Ole Opry debut and released a Christmas single—all with only one album to her name.

The singer made a trip to the Opry stage last Wednesday (22 October) as part of the legendary venue’s 100th anniversary celebrations, sharing the bill with members Dustin Lynch and Rhonda Vincent.

Sacha made the most of her moment in the spotlight by delivering a flawless two-song set comprising her breakout track, Hey Mom I Made It, and her chart-climbing single Shooting Star, which she performed with collaborators Restless Road.

Addressing the audience upon taking the stage, Sacha quipped that the number of attendees reminded her of a wedding. She also paid tribute to her 17-year-old self and encouraged anyone with a dream to follow it.

“I had family coming in tonight, and I didn’t know if it was my Opry debut or my wedding,” Sacha said. “If you would have told that 17-year-old girl who found herself without a home that she would be able to have the opportunity of a lifetime, I don’t think she would have believed it.”

She continued, “It has been a long time coming…I just want to give anybody hope out there who feels like you’re going to disqualify yourself from your dreams because of your circumstances. I hope that my story and this song will give you some hope.”

Sacha’s appearance on the iconic stage comes as she recently released a heartfelt take on Faith Hill’s festive tune, Where Are You Christmas, which appeared in the 2000 film, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and was co-written by Mariah Carey.

Offering an additional personal touch to the cover, Sacha paid tribute to her beloved dog Trooper on the single art. “This song really speaks to change, loss, and the ache of missing someone you love,” Sacha remarked in a statement.

“Recording ‘Where Are You Christmas’ felt deeply personal for me this year, as I’ve been missing my sweet Trooper so much. But through the music, I found moments of love and light again — and I hope anyone who’s missing someone this season can feel that same comfort and connection.”

The deluxe edition of Sacha’s debut album, Woman In The Mirror—originally released in May—will be released on vinyl and other mediums on Friday, 28 November. You can pre-order the release here.
