"I stepped on a nail, impaled my foot, and when I took my boot off, corn fell all over the floor,” Green told his social media followers.

US country musician Riley Green has been forced to take an unexpected trip to the emergency room after injuring himself by stepping on a nail.

Green himself shared the news with his fans by taking to Instagram stories yesterday, explaining how he had managed to puncture both his boot and his foot while partaking in his daily life.

Keeping a sense of humour about it all, Green could be seen laughing as he relayed the unexpected addition to the hospital visit.

“At the emergency room, ’cause I stepped on a nail, impaled my foot, and when I took my boot off, corn fell all over the floor,” Green told his fans. “The lady came in here wanting to know where all the corn came from.”

A seemingly-nonplussed Green soon shared a still of his injured foot with Disturbed’s Down With The Sickness as the soundtrack, and then a candid clip taken by a friend in which they discuss how quickly he can get back into the woods.

A later clip shared on his Instagram stories seems to indicate that his nurse’s advice that he could return to the woods whenever was true, with Green showing himself bundled up in the snow.

Though Green, a noted outdoorsman and hunter, didn’t share any further details regarding how he sustained his injury, the presence of corn in his boots and his desire to get back into the woods seems to indicate it may have been a hunting mishap – though a comparatively minor one in the grand scheme of things.

Green is currently enjoying some well-deserved downtime following the release of his third album, Don’t Mind if I Do, back in October. The record has been his highest-charting to date, reaching #25 in his native US and #29 in Canada.

He's set to return to the stage in early February, before a busy year sees him performing all throughout the US ahead of a trip to the UK in September.
