The Tamworth Country Music Parade will have a new-look, reimagined feel when it returns to the 2024 Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival. Find more information about the events at next year’s festival here.

With next year’s event taking place over ten days – from 19 to 28 January in the heart of Australian country music, Tamworth, fans should get excited for the traditional 52nd edition of the parade.

“The Tamworth Country Music Parade will be a colourful and exciting event that brings together artists, fans and community for one big celebration in the main Festival precinct,” Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth Manager, Barry Harley, said in a press release.

Harley added that the fresh annual parade won’t just feature Australia’s biggest country music parade; it will “also feature roaming street performers, local dance schools, community groups and marching bands along with a range of unique and historic cars.”

The Tamworth Country Music Parade will be held on the penultimate day of the festival, on Saturday, 27 January. Right as energy begins to wane towards the end of the ten-day event, a parade will pick punters right up.

The parade will begin by going north along Peel St before turning onto Fitzroy St and then left onto Kable Ave, concluding at the intersection of Kable Ave and Hill St. You don’t have to be a performer to participate – attendees are encouraged to walk the entire 1.2 km route of the parade.

Tamworth Regional Council Coordinator Events and Operations, Michaela Stevens, explained, “We want spectators to feel a part of the parade, so we’re encouraging all artists and entrants to walk the route so that they can interact with the crowds and fans.”

Vehicles are permitted for use throughout the parade, with restrictions applied.

The parade has also added a theme: Australian + Country + Music. Stevens said, “This theme not only celebrates Australian country music, but also Australia as a nation, and what it means to be an Aussie.”

Best-dressed punters will be in the running for cash prizes, and to be eligible must have “one country music artist walking or travelling as part of their entry, a live music performance or pre-recorded music playing.”

Stevens concluded, “We’re encouraging all entrants in the parade to create their own interpretation of this theme and include colourful costumes, banners, flag and props in their entry to make it exciting and visually appealing.” To be part of the parade and be eligible for cash prizes, fill out the entry form here.
