Sibling trio The Band Perry are changing things up again. Original member and bassist Reid Perry has officially announced his departure from the group, marking the end of another era for the band that once dominated country airwaves with massive hits like If I Die Young and Better Dig Two.
“To the fans, you’ve always been my favorite part of this. I’ve decided to leave TBP. I’ll be missing seeing you in the crowd at a Band Perry show” In a statement posted to Instagram, Reid shared that he's officially stepping away from the band
“But I’ll be around, managing a new voice I believe in more than anything, Ryan Coleman. For me it was and will always be about making great country music, with and for the hardworking people who love it and live it. Thank you for every memory, I’ll see you back in the saddle. I wish Kimberly and TBP the best as they move forward into the future.”

Kimberly left a sweet message for her brother on the post “Reid! Wishing you the most wonderful successes in your new era! Love you, brother!” and the third and newest band member, who also happens to be Reid’s brother-in-law Johnny Costello added “Go get em Reido!!!”
This announcement follows years of speculation about the trio’s future. After skyrocketing to fame and helping define early 2010s country radio, The Band Perry’s sound began to shift drastically, moving from rootsy country into synth heavy pop.
That pivot was polarising to a lot of fans and in 2023, the band quietly confirmed they’d be going on an indefinite hiatus to focus on individual projects. It was at the end of 2024, that The Band Perry announced their reboot with Kimberly, Reid and Johnny which caused a lot of buzz in the country music community.
This comeback also included a “homecoming” benefit show for Hurricane Helene relief, signaling not just a return to music, but a repositioning of who the band is now, rooted in family, legacy, and fresh creative energy. The trio once again leaned into their country sound, and resigned with Big Machine Label Group.
The same day as the shock announcement came from Reid, The Band Perry also teased new music is on the way, signalling this is just the beginning for the rebooted band.
While nostalgia will always do its thing, we’re intrigued for what’s next in store for The Band Perry.
