Australian singer-songwriter Raechel Whitchurch has been announced as the support act for the British-born Irish If You Love Somebody singer Nathan Carter.

Responding to the news once it was shared on social media by tour promoters Troubadour Presents this morning (20 September), Whitchurch said she “absolutely cannot wait” for the upcoming shows.

It’s been a stunning year for Raechel Whitchurch, with the singer’s latest album, What A Time To Be Alive, landing at #4 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and #1 on the Australian Country Albums Chart.

Discussing the “absolutely mind-blowing” achievement with Countrytown, Whitchurch detailed the personal stories that make up her latest LP, including the title track, which is about a “really horrific miscarriage” she experienced.

“I never thought that song would make it onto an album, so it is absolutely mind-blowing to me that it became the name of my second album and that this week it’s the #1 Australian Country Album. Truly, what a time to be alive,” she said.

She added, “I love country music so much, and I think that if you can tell someone a story within a song, you can change the world. I hope that these songs help to make the world a better place.”

In July, Nathan Carter announced his first Australian tour in eight years in support of his 14th album, Music Man.

Since his breakout in the mid-2000s, Carter has soared to become one of Ireland’s most legendary performers. He’s racked up an impressive six #1 albums, famously kept One Direction and Drake from topping the charts with his smash-hit Wagon Wheel cover, and regularly plays to sold-out arenas on home soil.

The forthcoming tour, proudly supported by Countrytown, begins at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Thursday, 28 November, followed by Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on the following night (29 November), before wrapping things up at Freo.Social in Fremantle on Saturday, 30 November. Tickets are on sale now via the Troubadour Presents website.
