Protesters from the left-wing Revolution Club Chicago showed up outside Jason Aldean’s concert at Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois, on Saturday (9 September), reportedly burned multiple American flags and referenced the singer’s controversial single, Try That In A Small Town.
As reported by the Chicago Tribune, around 20 protesters labelled Aldean a “fascist piece of shit” and recited “fuck the U.S. and all its might” before burning the flag. Before the police arrived, Revolution Club members challenged Aldean to “try that in a big city” as they “will try it right in front of your concert”. No arrests were made, nor were any injuries reported.
One Revolution Club member, Rafael Kadaris, said in a Windy City Times report that “We the Revcoms are here to call out fascist country singer and wannabe thug Jason Aldean, and his white supremacist lynching song 'Try That In A Small Town.'
“And we are announcing that we will be at his concert this Saturday in Tinley Park to declare: No more lynch mobs in and out of uniform. No more standing by while 'Good Ol' Boys' prepare for civil war. We need, and we demand, a whole new way to live. We are organising for a real revolution.”

And these "good ol' boys" (and girls) sure do love this flag! What part do they like most? Slavery? Genocide? War? Keep watching to the end 🇺🇸🔥 pic.twitter.com/Ze5l94tg5D

Leo Pargo, one of the leaders of Revolution Club Chicago, added in a separate statement (via the LA Times), “Aldean has said people who burn the American flag should ‘Try That In A Small Town’ and ‘see how far you make it down the road.’
“We accepted the challenge, Jason! We burned that rag right outside your concert... AND we’ll do it again! We lit the American flag on fire because this country has only ever stood for slavery, genocide and war.”
Taking to Twitter, Revolution Club posted a video of themselves chanting and getting the attention of Aldean’s fans, captioning the clip, “#JasonAldean's frothing fascist fans didn't like our message too much ;)
“And these "good ol' boys" (and girls) sure do love this flag! What part do they like most? Slavery? Genocide? War? Keep watching to the end”. The end of the video found Revolution Club Chicago burning the American flag.
Neither representatives for Aldean nor Revolution Club responded to publications such as The Fader for comment.
Aldean’s controversial Try That In A Small Town music video finds the American country singer standing before a church with an American flag draped over the entrance.
What made headlines, however, was the video’s weaving of real-life footage of flag burning, protests, and a robbery at a convenience store. Aldean has denied “pro-lynching” allegations as the footage was reportedly filmed at a Columbia, Tennessee courthouse at the site of a 1933 lynching.
