Post Malone Already Has 'Probably 35 Songs' Ready For His Next Album

You can’t keep a good musician down, and Post Malone has provided proof of that by revealing he already has “probably 35 songs” already sorted for his next album.

Malone, who is currently in the process of headlining the Sunday night of California’s Coachella festival, is riding off the back of a massive year in 2024 which proved that his pivot to the country genre is one that was both wise and profitable.

After five albums, 2024 saw Malone release his sixth record F-1 Trillion, his first foray into the world of country music. His first to top the US charts in five years, it also boasted his first chart-topping single in just as long, with the Morgan Wallen-featuring I Had Some Help sending Malone’s country vibes global.

Now, he’s already preparing his next country record according to a new chat with Billboard. Speaking to the musician backstage at Coachella, the publication noted that Malone has already made two trips to Nashville for his forthcoming album. “[I’ve] made probably 35 songs; it’s just a matter of which one’s rock, and which one’s sock,” Malone explained.

Apparently, the sessions have been fruitful, with Malone in the process of working with scratch vocals, while his band have already completed a handful of tracks. “They’re f*cking killing it,” he explained. “I sit there and listen to these songs, and I usually hate listening to my music, but listening to the band play, I get so excited.”

Malone also took the opportunity to reflect on his other albums that weren’t quite as successful, with 2022's Twelve Carat Toothache and 2023's Austin sitting at #2 in the US and Australia and hampering is run of chart-topping releases.

“[They weren’t] really, I don’t want to say not well received, but, you know, it was something that I had to do,” he explained. “We just slowed everything down and that’s kind of what I was going through at that point. And [F-1] was just f*cking bitching. It was so fun to make. And I said in an interview a while ago, ‘When I’m 30 years old, I’m gonna make a country record.’ And I made it at 29, so I wasn’t too far off.

“But you know, it just happened naturally,” he added. “I was like, ‘F*ck it, let’s go to Nashville. Let’s give it a go.’ I think finally bringing the fun back into what I was doing really showed on the record. And I think a lot of folks had fun listening to it. And we’re going to attempt to do it again. I’m excited to keep going.” 

Though Malone hasn’t given a specific release date, he does note that new music will be arriving “very, very soon.”
