Six months out from the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash being staged, organisers have announced that the event has officially sold out – with close to 12,000 intrepid travelers set to rock the iconic red earth plains in August for a truly bucket list experience of music, camping and outback fun.
Festival owner/founder, producer and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group, Greg Donovan says, “Only a bit over a week ago we were talking about being 95% sold out for the Mundi Mundi Bash – and then we had a huge final surge on tickets. There was obviously a lot of people intending heading to the Mundi Mundi Bash who got worried they’d miss out when we announced we were close to selling out - and they’ve jumped online and purchased immediately.”
He adds, “We really didn’t expect the last 5% of tickets to sell so fast, but we’re certainly not complaining. What a great result in these times to have two major events already sold out when we’re still 6 months out from staging them. It’s a bit of a pinch myself moment.”
Donovan took a huge leap of faith in founding the Birdsville Big Red Bash (July 4-6, 2023) in 2013, and then sister event the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash (August 17-19, 2023) which was staged for the first time last year – with the huge gamble now paying off.
The stacked line-ups for both the Birdsville Big Red Bash and Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash feature some of the biggest names in Australian rock, pop, roots and country music including ICEHOUSE, Hoodoo Gurus, Human Nature, Pete Murray, The Angels, The Waifs, Kate Ceberano, Troy Cassar-Daley, Ross Wilson (Big Red Bash only), Dragon, Thirsty Merc (Mundi Mundi Bash only), Chocolate Starfish, Shane Howard, Jack Jones, Pierce Brothers, Wendy Matthews, Grace Knight, Mi-Sex (Mundi Mundi Bash only), Chantoozies, Melanie Dyer, Caitlyn Shadbolt and Furnace and the Fundamentals.
Legendary country music singer John Williamson will also hit the stage at the Birdsville Big Red Bash, reprising his Simpson Desert performance from a decade ago which helped launch the bucket list music event.
