After sharing the stage with Luke Combs in 2023, Latrell Mitchell is bringing that same country magic home with the Taree Country Festival.

NRL superstar Latrell Mitchell is returning to his roots by bringing a country music festival celebration to his hometown of Taree. The Taree Country Festival is happening Saturday, November 8 at the Taree Showgrounds and is more than just a music and rodeo event, it’s a deeply personal homecoming for the proud Biripi, Wiradjuri, Worimi and Gumbaynggirr man.
Mitchell, who grew up on the mid-north coast of NSW, has long maintained a deep connection to Country. He still owns farmland in the region and regularly shares moments of life on the land, riding horseback, tending to the farm, and embracing his heritage on his social media.
What you may not have realised is Mitchell is also a devoted country music fan, he famously shared the stage with Luke Combs back in 2023 after originally missing out on tickets, but now he’s turning his passion into something even bigger: a community celebration.

“I know this year hasn't gone to plan with floods and devastation - I've seen it first hand as I've been up at the farm, sussing out a few things there and what we've been able to salvage. I can only imagine what everyone else has gone through and what they’re trying to rebuild now and get back on their feet,” Mitchell said.
The Taree Country Festival is his way of giving back and supporting a town that has weathered its fair share of hardship by offering a moment to come together in joy, music, and culture.
“Taree Country Festival, really looking forward to this one guys. Bring your families out, can’t wait to see you’s all there, be up there, be home, and bring the love and spirit back into the town,” he said.
The all ages event, presented by the Winmarra Foundation (founded by Mitchell) and J&J Rodeo, will feature a jam packed lineup of live country music, bull riding, freestyle motocross, food trucks, line dancing, and family friendly entertainment.
A portion of funds raised will support the Winmarra Foundation’s work in empowering First Nations youth and rural communities through mentorship, education, and cultural celebration.
