Not one to rest on her laurels, Morgan Wade has announced the quick follow-up to last year’s album Psychopath. On Friday, 16 August, the American country singer will release her new LP, Obsessed, via Ladylike Records/Sony.
Wade has unveiled the new single, Time To Love, Time To Kill, to accompany the exciting announcement. Starting with an acoustic guitar and drums, Wade shows off her storytelling abilities and vocal chops, instantly drawing in listeners with her old-school take on country music. You can listen to the song below.
Time To Love, Time To Kill follows Wade’s recently released tracks, Halloween and 2 AM In London. The album announcement also arrives with a pre-order/pre-save link, a new US tour, and the tracklist—which includes pop singer Kesha—you can check out below. Pre-order/pre-save Obsessed here.
Obsessed is a 14-track album on which Wade explores more personal aspects of her songwriting and teams up with touring guitarist Clint Wells as the producer. Her last two albums were produced by Sadler Vaden, the guitarist for Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. On Instagram, Wade described Obsessed as “New album, same me.”
Wade said about her last album, “With Psychopath, we’ve done a really good job of moving on from Reckless to the next stage without it being so crazy different. I’m excited; every song on there has its own sound and is completely different.

“[The album] goes into where I’m at in life right now, which is so busy. It’s about growing up, being older, and starting to feel like, ‘Is it time to settle down?’ I think you’ll see a lot of that on the record.”
Last year, Wade underwent “proactive” double mastectomy surgery after discovering she had the RAD51D gene mutation, which meant that she had a “10-20 per cent lifetime risk for ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer” and with her family history of breast cancer, decided it wasn’t worth the risk.
In March, Wade provided an update four months after the surgery, writing to fans alongside pictures of her post-op: “It’s been four months and I’ve been back to powerlifting and running. Started back to that around January. There have been a few things I haven’t been able to do until now - the last month, I’ve finally been back to doing what I want.”
“It was an adjustment to look at myself for a minute,” she wrote. “I’m still adjusting to how different my body looks - change is never easy - but this was worth it.”
