Don’t you love it when two great singers, both with distinctive voices – vocally and lyrically – join forces for a duet?

That’s exactly what will happen on Friday, 23 August, when Australian singer-songwriters Melanie Dyer and Dylan Wright (the latter this year’s winner of Australian Idol) come together for a song called Deep End.

In a humorous video Dyer shared on social media, she’s driving and, on the phone with Wright (on speaker), discussing a new song she’s written but believes it would be better served as a duet. Seeing a hitchhiker on the road, Dyer abruptly hangs up and pulls over, discovering Wright carrying a guitar case.

Wright gets in the car and after some quick chatter – both artists are on the road, writing and recording new music – Dyer plays a snippet of Deep End before Wright sings a verse, forming the perfect duet. As to what Deep End sounds like, it’s a little pop-country banger, with Dyer and Wright’s voices effortlessly complementing each other.

Dyer captioned the video, “I know they warn you not to pick up hitchhikers, but this one turned out alWright 😉 Our collaboration DEEP END drops AUG 23”.
