In an exciting development for fans of country it-girl Melanie Dyer, the Run Out Of Road singer has been announced as the support act for Cooper Alan's upcoming Australian and New Zealand tour.

The tour, which kicks off at the end of this month, will kick off at the Freo Social in Perth before heading to the East Coast to tick off Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall and Ridin’ Hearts Festival across both Sydney and Melbourne. Alan will then be crossing the Tasman to play Auckland’s Powerstation, taking Dyer over with him.

Dyer announced the news personally to her fans via Instagram yesterday (3rd October):

“Thank you for your lovely messages! I’m sitting here reading them all. I’m very excited to be joining Cooper Alan on his Australia & New Zealand tour.”

“(This is a) Big milestone for me; this is my first support spot for an international artist, and I’m so thankful that country music artists are coming down to Australia and are getting us locals to open.”

Dyer has been making waves recently, having released her ballad  Deep End, with Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright in late August.

The song, co-written in Nashville with songwriters Phil Barton and Forest Whitehead, explores the exhilarating yet daunting feelings that come with falling in love. When the song fell through the cracks of Spotify’s flawed algorithms, Dyer took to Instagram with Wright to raise awareness of the growing dependence on Spotify to help budding musicians.

“As artists we rely heavily on being added to playlists so that our music is discovered and doesn’t just slip through the cracks of the algorithm,” she said via socials.

“It’s not the be all and end all, but If you don’t get added, it can be the difference between 1000-1 million streams (and beyond) and it also impacts your monthly listeners which in turn affects your audience growth, ability to get gigs/festivals and even your playing times/fee and position on the lineup.”

Currently, Deep End has been added to the Countrytown National Airplay Charts, sitting at #19 and steadily climbing.

Tickets for the Cooper Alan tour are available via Frontier Touring or Ticketmaster, with shows happening throughout October and early November. Dyer adds:

“(This is a) Big gig for me, I’m gonna do you guys proud. I’m working on the set already, it’s gonna be fun.”

“See you guys soon!”
