Man Wins $200,000 Off A $5 Luke Combs Scratchy

One lucky fan recently won $200,000 off a Luke Combs scratchy.

A New York man named Terrance Pertillar was helping his friend move to Henderson, North Carolina, when they stopped for petrol, and he saw the ticket with Combs’ face on it behind the counter.

“I’m a fan of Luke Combs,” Pertillar told North Carolina Lottery. “I saw his ticket, so I bought it.”

“This is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing,” he added, “I was like, ‘Wow, is this real?’”

The North Carolina Lottery shared on their Instagram page, “A trip to NC to help a friend move led Terrance Pertillar of #Riverhead, NY, to the first $200,000 Living Lucky with Luke Combs top prize!”

The winning ticket was sold at Granville Food Mart in Oxford, North Carolina, which is just over 250 miles away from Combs’ hometown of Asheville.

Pertillar marks the first person to claim one of the five $200,000 prizes available through Living Lucky with Luke Combs scratchies. In addition to instant money, players also had the chance to win one of three trips to an exclusive Luke Combs concert in Nashville where they could win $500,000. The promotion ended in February 2023. 

“The prize will take place in Nashville, Tennessee on February 6, 2024, and will be centred around an intimate concert at the iconic Ryman Auditorium, where one lucky winner will win $500,000,” Derek Gwaltney, the Founder & CEO of Atlas Experiences, said. 

“Luke genuinely hopes one of his fans becomes $500,000 richer during his performance,” he continued. “The intimate cash concert with Luke is truly like no other prize.”

“I’m truly honoured for the opportunity to give my fans the chance to live out the song When It Rains It Pours, and a shot at half a million dollars. Good luck to everyone,” Combs shared in a statement.

According to the game’s official website, the scratchies are available for purchase in Wisconsin, Texas, Minnesota, Maine, Vermont, Arizona, Virginia, Kansas, Iowa, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Ohio, and will soon launch in Nebraska, Kentucky and more in the coming months.
