Combs is also the newest member of one of the most popular AFL clubs.

With seven dates crossed off his sold-out World Tour Australian and New Zealand dates, Luke Combs has enjoyed some downtime ahead of his final shows in Adelaide (AEC Arena) and Perth (RAC Arena).
It turns out that Combs has been in demand elsewhere, too: at the AFL. In an image posted by the AFL on Friday night (18 August), the Beer Never Broke My Heart singer was pictured learning about the game from three-time All-Australian legend Eddie Betts.

“Imagine being Luke Combs and having Eddie Betts teach you about footy,” the AFL noted, with Betts pointing at the ground from the coaching box as Combs looked on. Making the picture even cooler, Australian country music star Casey Barnes replied in the comments, “This is absolutely brilliant…. Now to get him to play at the GF”, with the hands raised and fire emojis.
And, look, if Combs is willing to stick around or fly back to Melbourne in late September, he’d be a fantastic headliner for the 2023 AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment.
As The Music reports, the AFL offered Bruce Springsteen “the kitchen sink” to get him to perform at this year’s Grand Final, and at the time of writing, haven’t yet revealed who will perform at the event.
Also on Friday, Combs looked like he chose a team to support in the AFL, holding up a Collingwood Football Club guernsey and smiling beside the team’s captain, Darcy Moore. The team wrote in their caption: “The newest member of the Magpie Army, Luke Combs!”
Luke Combs kicked off his completely sold-out Australian tour in Brisbane on Saturday, 12 August, with special guests Cody Johnson and Lane Pittman.
Countrytown reviewer Liv Dunford called the show “magic” and discovered how quickly Luke Combs could wrap an audience around his fingers. You can read our live review here.
Combs’ first Brisbane show also arrived with a gender reveal, in which the singer was handed a balloon to announce a gender reveal for the first time. “You’d be happy with either, right?” Combs asked before popping the balloon with his teeth. Was it a girl or a boy? You can find out here.
