Byron Bay-based singer-songwriter Kita Alexander has teamed up with Morgan Evans on Date Night, a sweet acoustic-based country-infused single.
Alexander’s warm, breathy, tone accompanied by Evans’ luscious voice make for some gorgeous harmonies, including a falsetto section in the bridge.
The heart-warming ballad is Alexander’s first foray into country music (previously released single, 7 Minutes In Heaven, is also acoustic, but with more of a pop edge) that she wrote in just 20 minutes after challenging herself to write a song inspired by the genre.
“We were pretty obsessed with it, and I was certain I was going to give it away to a country star,” Alexander admitted in a statement. “Six months later, my husband [Owen Wright] went for a surf with Morgan Evans, and he was really excited to feature on it. It’s the love song you never knew you needed, and it is now your gateway into country music.”
Evans added, “I’ve been a fan of Kita’s voice since the first time I heard it, and I’m so stoked to be a part of this record. To me, ‘Date Night’ is authentic, effortless and genre-less storytelling that sounds at home in my old F150 in Tennessee as it does on the beach in Byron Bay. Can’t wait for folks to hear this one!”
You can listen to Date Night below. With a voice primed for pop and country radio, and songwriting abilities beyond her years, Alexander has proven that she can effortlessly jump from introspective or empowering indie-pop to country.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that she’s a highly sought-after artist and has now signed a worldwide management deal with Lemon Tree Music, joining fellow Australian artists Tash Sultana, Tones And I and Budjerah.
“I’m so excited to announce that I’ve signed with Lemon Tree Music,” Alexander said. “I’ve been self-managed for the last year and a half waiting until I found the perfect fit. I have wanted to align myself with an Australian-based management company that has those international ties to really grow my music and brand. Cannot wait to see what we can achieve together.”
Morgan Evans will return home to Australia in August and September, putting on 13 shows in Australia and New Zealand, with special guest James Johnston joining him on all dates.
Due to overwhelming demand, Evans has added extra shows in multiple cities, including Melbourne, Perth, Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. You can find the remaining tickets to Evans’ Life Upside Down Tour via Frontier Touring.
