Kelsea Ballerini Snogs Chase Stokes… While Singing A Song About Morgan Evans Divorce

During the Seattle stop on her Heartfirst tour on Saturday June 24, Kelsea Ballerini ran off stage to give her boyfriend, Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes, a smooch. Here’s the kicker though: she was mid-way through singing Penthouse, a track inspired by her divorce from ex-husband Morgan Evans.

In a video shared on TikTok, Ballerini sprints towards the side of the stage during a pause in the music, planting a long kiss on a seemingly unsuspecting Stokes before emerging from backstage. She pointed to the actor while singing the lyrics, “I kissed someone new last night.”

She also tweaked the original lyrics, “But now I don’t know where you’re sleeping, baby” to “And now I don’t care where you’re sleeping, baby.”

Recently, Ballerini took to Instagram to reveal that Stokes flew from Charleston, South Carolina to Seattle to surprise her at the airport. In the video, Ballerini leaps into his arms in a big bear hug before the couple shares a kiss. “My lil Velcro,” Stokes commented.

She also shared the moment on her stories, captioning, “I’m touring, he’s filming but he still flew from Charleston to Seattle for 24 hours to surprise and see the show. This man.”

Similarly, Stokes shared the same image, writing “She says she hates surprises.”

Earlier this month, Stokes weighed in on fans dubbing him the ultimate “golden retriever boyfriend”, a term which Urban Dictionary defines as "a significant other that is easy-going and makes it fairly simple to maintain a happy and fulfilling relationship".

“I’ll take the job, I’ll take it,” Stokes told Entertainment Tonight on June 19. “She’s seriously the best human being on planet Earth. She’s so damn talented… just to see her music and her shine in the ways that she is in recent times, it’s been beautiful.”

Ballerini and Stokes were first linked in January after being spotted getting cosy together at a football game. They made their red carpet debut in April at the CMT Music Awards.

In August 2022, Ballerini announced she and Evans were divorcing after almost five years of marriage. The country singers first met in March 2016 while co-hosting the CMC Awards and wed in December 2017 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico after a year-long engagement.
