Keith Urban has revealed he won’t be returning to The Voice Australia.

Speaking with The Daily Telegraph, Urban opened up about the different projects he has in the pipeline, including the Australian leg of his The Speed Of Now tour that was postponed in December 2020, working on a new album for a 2023 release and spending Christmas with loved ones.

"Unfortunately, the timing of it means that I won’t be able to come back for this next season of The Voice," Urban shared. "My mum just turned 80 and [wife Nicole Kidman’s] mum, who knows how many Christmases we get with anybody ever but particularly with our mums, I really cherish that chance to spend [Christmas] with them and our family in [Australia]."

He added, "Having the kids in there is great but the extended family as well because we don't have any family in Nashville, so it is incredible to have all of the cousins and aunts and uncles and everybody, it is just amazing."

But that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s done with the singing competition series. He first joined The Voice Australia for season 1 before departing and returning for seasons 10 and 11.

"I actually don’t think of it as the end of a chapter at all because I love doing the show," he said. "I feel very close to everybody on the set and hopefully the door can stay open because I would jump back in a heartbeat.”

Urban will start the Australian leg of his world tour, which will see him play eleven shows across the East Coast, on December 1 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Speed Of Now World Tour 2022 is the first opportunity for fans to see him perform songs from his tenth studio album, The Speed Of Now Part1. The global number one album includes the worldwide smash One Too Many, featuring Pink, Wild Hearts, Polaroid, Superman and Out the Cage, which features BRELAND and the funk/pop icon Nile Rodgers.

Urban said, “It has been just a banger of a year. This year already feels like two years rolled into one, probably just for how much we have been touring and the fact that the contrast was a-year-and-a-half of a very slow dormant touring period and then just suddenly everything wide open.”

His current single Brown Eyes Baby peaked at #4 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart. His previous single Nightfalls remains on the chart at #42 after peaking at #3.
