A new global music competition is coming to Apple TV+. Produced by Grammy Award-winner Kacey Musgraves and actress and producer Reese Witherspoon, My Kind Of Country is designed to break the next big country star.
According to the press release, the eight-episode series will be “a fresh take on a competition series, breaking down barriers in country music by providing an extraordinary opportunity to diverse and innovative artists from around the world.”
Scouts 2021’s CMA ‘New Artist of the Year’ Jimmie Allen, Grammy nominee Mickey Guyton and recording artist Orville Peck each hand-pick a roster of exceptional up-and-coming artists and invite them to the home of country music in Nashville, Tennessee, to showcase their unique sound. Both Musgraves and Witherspoon will also feature.
The competition winner will receive a life-changing prize from Apple Music, receiving unprecedented support and exposure on the platform.
Guyton shared on Instagram, “The beauty of country music is that it can sound like so many different things and have so many different influences. I have a passion for sharing and discovering new voices and couldn't be more excited to be a part of the new Apple TV+ series My Kind Of Country.”
Allen added, “We went on a global search to find the next country music artist. Mickey Guyton, Orville Peck and I had the chance to meet some amazing artists from different parts of the world. We want y’all to take the journey with us.”

Along with Musgraves and Witherspoon, the series is also executive produced by Hello Sunshine’s Sara Rea and Lauren Neustadter; Sandbox Entertainment's Jason Owen; Emmy-nominated showrunner Izzie Pick Ibarra; and Done + Dusted’s Katy Mullan, with music direction by Emmy Award-winning Adam Blackstone.
My Kind Of Country premieres globally on Friday, March 24 on Apple TV+.
