Jake Hoot Reimagined Allergy Version Of Walker Hayes’ ‘Fancy Like’ Goes Viral

Anyone with hay fever knows that familiar feeling of sneezing, sore throat, headache, itchy eyes, and a whole lot more that is triggered by seasonal allergens, like pollens and grass, among other things. And it seems season 17 winner of The Voice US, Jake Hoot does too! 

Putting his own unique, comical spin on a cover of Walker Hayes’ chart-topping hit, Fancy Like, Hoot dubbed the tune "The ultimate ALLERGY song" when it shared the video on his TikTok account.

He sings:

“It’s so amazin’ / this pollination / has got me sneezy nose runnin’ and drainin’ / I’m feeling stuffy / pass me the puffies / this yellow dust in the air has got me yucky / but every now and then I hock a loogie / ‘cause I can’t stand keeping in the boogies / yeah, I’m sneezin’ like allergies and I’m coughin’ / got some Claritin and the pills are poppin’ / I got a Netty, and some hot tea too / essential oils smellin’ up every bedroom / promise I’m not at all contagious, but this snot that I’m producing is outrageous / Ya, I love smellin’ flowers just as much as the next guy / hey, and that’s why I’m sneezing like…”

Hoot’s video quickly went viral with over 1.5 million views, prompting fans to beg him for a second verse. He more than delivered in a follow-up video posted a week later.

He sings:

“I’m closin’ windows, cause when the wind blows / It’s like World War III in my nose holes / I got a mask on, to mow the front lawn / and when I sleep, I can’t breathe worth a Dadgum / I really need these bees to step up their game / and get this pollen out of my airwaves”

The video also caught the attention of allergy brand, Claritin, on his Instagram account.

“We love this,” they wrote in the comments.

Born in Texas, Hoot moved to Nashville at 20 and started gigging. He auditioned for The Voice in 2019 with Luke Combs' When It Rains It Pours and, following his victory, released his coronation single Better Off Without You, written about a dark period while going through a divorce from his then-wife. He married his now-wife Brittney in March 2021.

In 2020, he released the singles Dangerous Thing and Tennessee Strong. The latter reached the Top 10 in the iTunes Country Singles chart and Top 35 on the iTunes All-Genre Chart, with all proceeds going to survivors of the deadly tornadoes that hit Middle, Tennessee on March 3rd, 2020. He then teamed up with his former coach, Kelly Clarkson, for the duet, I Wouldn’t Loved You and released an EP called Love Out Of Time. He recently released the duet, There’s Still Tomorrow, with Bri Fletcher.
