Lead singer and songwriter, M.C. Taylor says, "I’m beyond excited to announce that Hiss Golden Messenger will be playing a short run of shows in Australia at the end of September 2023! It’s long been a dream of mine to head down under—it’s really quite hard to believe that, having put out well over ten records under the Hiss Golden Messenger name and clocked hundreds of thousands of miles around the US and in Europe, I’ve never been to your fair shores—and these performances are going to be something special. Bring your dancing, shoes, folks! We’re gonna have a real good time, Hiss-style! See you there!"
Hiss Golden Messenger plays The Corner Hotel, Melbourne on September 27, The Great Club, Sydney on September 28 and Dashville Skyline on September 29 and 30.

Musically, lyrically and conceptually, new record Jump for Joy is unlike any previous Hiss Golden Messenger album. Their 15th studio album contains the most optimistic and groove-filled songs that Taylor has written and produced. The narrative is somewhat autobiographical as he created a character to represent himself through the various experiences he has had through his life in music.
The upcoming album features Shinbone, the new track about taking chances to move forward, especially if what you have been doing prior has not had a positive result.
Taylor explains, “I wrote this tune after abruptly coming out of a prolonged depression. As anyone that struggles with depression knows, sometimes you just snap out of it for no reason that you can discern. This song contains what I think may be one of the mission statements of Jump for Joy, namely: If you take the big gamble and lose it all, can you survive with whatever's left? That's the question a lot of us are asking ourselves.”
Over the past decade (give or take the pandemic years), Hiss Golden Messenger have achieved worldwide success with critically acclaimed albums and breathtaking live performances. In 2019, the band received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Americana Album’ for Terms of Surrender.
