Alt-country singer-songwriter and presenter, Henry Wagons is set to reprise his role as legendary Warren Zevon this April.
Wagons previously played the American rock singer-songwriter during the 2019 critically acclaimed preview season of Zevon – Accidentally Like A Martyr at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne.
The show takes you through the life and times of Warren Zevon, his turbulent and erratic relationship with loved ones, supporters, and the music industry in general, and tells of his battle with drugs and alcohol paralleled with his genius as a songwriter.
Wagons says, “Zevon, cheekily and charmingly, spins a lyric and winds a melody like no other. Even now, when I’m deep inside his catalogue, my jaw still drops at least once in every song at a random pearl of wisdom. We truly have one hell of a set list to share.”

Music director (and lead single of alt-country band, The Wildes), Lachlan Bryan adds, “Zevon’s songs are dark, funny and brilliant all at once. It’s been a great pleasure to immerse myself in them, and I can’t wait to bring them to life again with this killer band of fine musicians and people.”
The show features songs like, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, Carmelita, Excitable Boy, Werewolves of London, Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner, Lawyers, Guns and Money, Johnny Strikes Up The Band, A Certain Girl and I Was in The House When The House Burned Down.
Zenon careered stretch from 1965 until his untimely death in 2003. In that time, he recorded 12 studio albums and was also in a group called Hindu Love Gods, which featured some musicians from the band R.E.M. His songs have been covered been Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, and Jackson Browne.
The production will return for a limited run in April. Tickets are available here.
