The next generation of Australian country music talent is set to shine at the 2025 Mothertone Gympie Music Muster Talent Search, with the announcement of this year’s finalists. The competition continues to serve as a vital platform for emerging artists, offering them the opportunity to perform in front of large audiences and industry professionals.
A total of 18 finalists have been selected, 12 in the Open category and 6 in the Junior category. These talented individuals will take to the stage during the Gympie Music Muster, held from August 28 to 31, competing for a career-defining prize package. The grand prize includes a trip to Nashville, paid performances at the 2026 Muster, and mentoring from Mothertone among other opportunities.
Talent Search Coordinator Michael Turner from Mothertone expressed his enthusiasm for the growing standard of entries each year. “We’ve had a lot of people come through this competition who’ve gone on to do really well,” he said. “People now know this isn’t just your little country town talent search; to be in it, you’ve got to be at a higher standard, and this year’s lineup proves that.” He also noted that the majority of this year’s finalists are new faces, highlighting the influx of fresh talent from across Australia.

The semi-finals will take place from Thursday, August 28, to Saturday, August 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The Grand Final is scheduled for Sunday, August 31, with the overall winners also performing that afternoon on the Hill Stage.
Gympie Music Muster Program Director Bec Anderson emphasized the festival's commitment to nurturing emerging talent. “We are really impressed with the standard that has come through the Mothertone Muster Talent Search again this year,” she said. “This competition continues to be a significant launching pad for up-and-coming artists. They’re getting the opportunity to perform in front of thousands and connect with some of the best in the industry while being fully immersed in a festival environment, and that’s an experience that is hard to find anywhere else.”
“We believe supporting emerging artists is imperative, and we’re proud to keep providing this platform so the future of the Australian music industry remains as bright as it can be.”
The Mothertone Gympie Music Muster Talent Search remains a cornerstone event for discovering and supporting the next wave of Australian country music stars. With a record-breaking 50,000 visitors attending the 2024 festival, the 2025 event is poised to continue this tradition of excellence and community engagement.
