Rising country star Gavin Adcock was arrested for alleged reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol in his car by the Tennessee Highway Patrol on Wednesday (21 March).

The Tennessean reports that Adcock was pulled over on Interstate 40 in Wilson County on Wednesday night. He was charged with reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol in his car.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office confirmed to The Tennessean that he was released in the early hours of Thursday morning after posting a $1,000 bond.

At the time of publication, Adcock is set to perform in Grant, Oklahoma, on Saturday, 24 May. This is a developing story, and we will update you if anything changes.

As Saving Country Music notes, Adcock—currently experiencing a wave of viral fame—isn’t just famous for his music.

He’s also made a name for himself based on his on-and off-stage antics, which include throwing beer and whisky at his audiences and fans returning the favour. The publication notes that his “dumb, drunken incidents” have further boosted his popularity for reasons outside his music.

Gavin Adcock is currently signed to Warner Music Nashville. The 26-year-old star was arrested in 2023 for driving with a suspended license and wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) at the time, “Went to jail one time because of a suspended license, sat in there for 10 hours and made friends with my cell mates.”

According to a Warner Music Nashville press release, Adcock is a former Georgia Southern University football player who grew up working on his family’s cattle farm and dreamed of riding bulls.

After starting to write songs in high school, Adcock pursued a musical path in 2021. Following a sporting injury, he used the recovery time to record and release his own original music. Adcock has since released numerous tracks that have amassed hundreds of millions of streams; the singer recently passed over one billion streams on Spotify.
