The countdown for Big Games Night Out is on, and the highlighting Melbourne International Games Week event aims to throw in a side of line-dancing with the game-centric evening.

Announced on September 5th, this year’s Melbourne International Games Week aims to create a hub for both gamer fans and game industry professionals to discuss and celebrate the growing industry, and the future of Australian gaming.

Highlighting 2024’s return of Big Games Night Out is Australia’s first Indigenous-led mobile game, Blaktasia: Invasion of The Murk.

Created by Melbourne-based company GUCK, the game aims to educate players on themes of environmental restoration and Aboriginal culture, as avatars move through a First Nations fictional copy of home.

As part of the evening's festivities, the game will be showcased through immersive projections on Fed Square's façade, alongside live music from Robert K Champion & The Blaktasia Band, as well as a headlining performance from DJ Soju Gang. Also added to the Blaktasia launch will be a line-dancing segment, where attendees are encouraged to join in with trained dancers leading the pack.

Participants will be able to wear both hats at this year’s Big Games Night Out, obsessing over their love of gaming AND country music via the boot scootin’ Blaktasia line dance.
