Country music artists Felicity Urquhart, Adam Harvey, Lachlan Bryan, Luke O’Shea and Lyn Bowtell share their stories in the new book Dear Lover.
Edited by Gold Logie-winning actor and Victorian Australian of the Year 2018, Samuel Johnson OAM, Dear Lover is a heartfelt, revealing, raw and sometimes spicy collection of letters celebrating love from some of Australia’s most notable notables, including Adam Gilchrist, Lehmo, Georgie Parker, Grant Denyer, Kate Mildenhall, Sam Mac, Jacqui Lambie, Pia Miranda, Susie Youssef, Larry Emdur, Turia Pitt, Mark Brandi, Matilda Brown, John Paul Young, John Howard, Brian Mannix, Hilde Hinton, Naomi Simson, Christie Whelan Browne, Julie Koh, Michala Banas, Shellie Morris, Ellen van Neerven, Michael Veitch and many more.
Johnson wrote on Facebook, “We all love differently. There are letters in here from all walks of life that remind us to live in today and not get stuck in yesterday. Some people are single by choice, some partners are dead, and some people’s love is well and truly broken. The love we share goes up and down, and comes and goes, but when it works there’s nothing like it. Even if we aren’t looking for it, it can bowl us over on any given day."
He added, "This is, by far, our best book yet.”
Dear Lover is the latest book in the ‘Dear’ series, following Dear Santa, Dear Mum and Dear Dad, with every sale contributing to Love Your Sister’s cancer research.
Bowtell shared on social media, “I was honoured to be asked to contribute with a note to my favourite person, my best friend, and my rock Damon. I hope you’ll get a copy of this book, enjoy reading it, and support a great cause at the same time. It’s a win win!”
