Just released, Look At Me Now is more than just a catchy track, it’s a reflective, no-frills anthem that chronicles Fanny’s journey through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Written and recorded on the road in Europe with her live band, The Prawn Stars, the single offers a raw glimpse into what it means to push forward in a tough industry, and thrive whilst doing so.
“This is a love letter to my younger self,” Lumsden says. “The amount of ‘no’s’ I experienced in this industry is wild, and every single one I am grateful for because they made me the person and artist I am today.”
Recorded during quick stops between shows, with the help of long-time collaborator and producer Matt Fell, the track captures the spirit of life on the road, from loading vans to taking main stages.
“I’m feeling reflective and grateful that I can still be driving the van, self-managed, doing my own makeup in the rear-view mirror and yet doing the biggest shows of my career all at the same time.”
On August 23, Fanny wrapped her European run by opening the main stage at The Long Road Festival in the UK, capping off a 23-date headline tour, a sold-out Country Halls tour in Scotland, appearances at seven festivals, and a coveted support slot for Paul Kelly.
UK press took notice, with Entertainment Focus naming her one of the Top Ten highlights of the festival, and Country In The UK calling her set “the most uplifting you will see all weekend.”
Now back on home soil, she’s straight into her next challenge opening arenas for Paul Kelly and Lucinda Williams on the Antipodean Arena Tour, proving once again that grit, gratitude, and a killer live show still go a long way.
