Ethan Calway is back with a new release out today, and this time he’s laying it all on the line. The rising Australian country-rock artist has dropped Running, a powerful and emotionally loaded track that dives headfirst into the moment you stop dodging your past and finally face who you are. It’s gritty, guitar-driven, and packed with the kind of honesty that has quickly become Calway’s signature style.

Blending heavy riffs with a steady undercurrent of vulnerability, Running is inspired by real life experiences. Calway explains the song taps into themes of resilience, redemption, and that pivotal decision to quit running and face life head on.

Ethan’s rise has been fast but well earned. In 2023 he became a Gympie NAB Talent Search Grand Finalist, and in 2024 he followed that up with becoming a Toyota Star Maker Top 10 Finalist.

In 2025, he took things up another level with a standout appearance on The Voice Australia. All four coaches turned their chairs in awe of Calway’s impressive cover of Walking In Memphis by Marc Cohn, but it was Richard Marx who locked him in by using his Ultimate Block to secure Calway for his team. It was a defining moment that introduced Calway to a national audience and underscored what fans in the country music community already knew: this guy is the real deal.

With his rugged charm, road worn storytelling and high energy live shows, Calway is fast becoming one of the most compelling new voices in Australian country music. And with Running, he’s proving he has no plans to slow down.
