Elle King has revealed she is officially going country!

Back in November the Ex’s & Oh’s singer told Taste of Country Nights, “I actually just spent the last two days in the studio in Nashville recording my first country songs.”

Having immersed herself in the music of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, among others, from a young age, King’s music style has always encompassed country, soul, rock and blues. Notably her 2018 album, Shake The Spirit, which crossed into blues, alt-country and Americana.

Earlier this year, King collaborated with Miranda Lambert on Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home). The single peaked at #11 on the Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart and was nominated for ‘Musical Event of the Year’ at the ACM Awards, but lost to Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney’s Half of My Hometown. The song also recently received a GRAMMY Award nomination for ‘Best Country Duo/Group Performance’, with results to be announced in January next year.

King – who is the daughter of comedy actor Rob Schneider – had previously opened for Lambert on her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour in late 2019, and the two won the 2020 ACM Award for ‘Music Event of the Year’ along with tour mates Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Caylee Hammack and Tenille Townes for their cover of Elvin Bishop’s Fooled Around and Fell In Love.

In 2016, she teamed up with country singer Dierks Bentley for the song Different for Girls. They performed this song at the 50th CMA Awards on November 2, 2016, where she and Bentley won the award for ‘Musical Event of the Year’. The track was also nominated for a handful of other awards – including the 2017 GRAMMY for ‘Best Country Duo/Group Performance’.

King will also join the Canadian leg of Chris Stapleton's All American Road Show tour in April 2022.

The 32-year-old welcomed her first child, a boy, named Lucky Levi Tooker, on September 1, 2021. The father is tattoo artist and King’s fiancé, Dan Tooker.

Speaking about the pregnancy back in March, King said, "This is something that I have not only wanted since I could remember, but it's something that I have struggled with for a really long time. Every single day of this pregnancy is such a miracle."
