On Friday night (9 October), Ella Langley made the difficult decision to cancel her Tulsa, Oklahoma show after learning of a “serious security threat.”

The Choosin’ Texas hitmaker was set to perform at the BOK Centre, but earlier that day, Langley’s team and local police were told of a bomb threat, according to the Daily Express, which police confirmed was fake after searches and bomb-sniffing dogs swept the area.

In a video posted to Facebook, Tulsa Police Department Capt. Richard Meulenberg said that after a police search, including bomb-sniffing dogs, they found no credible threat. They searched the venue earlier, then returned after a caller rang with a warning about the potential for bombs and gunfire at Langley’s concert.

“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show,” Langley wrote on Facebook. “This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team.”

She added, “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am.

“This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”

The following night, Langley addressed the incident on stage from her Dandelion tour stop in Lubbock, Texas.

“I was put in charge of a decision for 15,000 people, and I decided to make the decision that I could live with the rest of my life,” she said, per Taste of Country.

She added, “Because a concert’s not worth a human life. It’s not. So, I would have made yesterday’s decision 10 billion times over. And I’d do it tomorrow, and I’d do it the next day.”

Langley also explained that she almost cancelled the Lubbock show, but because of her faith in Jesus, she found the strength to return to the stage.

“If it wasn’t for Him, I would have cancelled this show tonight,” she said. “But I felt this calling and this tug in my chest saying, ‘It’s okay. We are safe. We can do this show.’ And I decided to do it because of Him right there; that’s the only reason.”

Langley concluded that she refused to live in fear, telling her fans, “I’m not gonna live in fear. This is my calling, and I’m gonna continue doing it. Nobody is gonna talk me out of it or scare me out of it.”

Ella Langley is joined by special guests Kameron Marlowe and Laci Kaye Booth on her current Dandelion tour dates.
