If you needed a good news story today, Dylan Wright has got you covered.
The Australian country singer took to social media on Wednesday (12 August) and shared a wholesome story of mistaken identity—one that has resulted in a wonderful friendship between Wright and a family in America.
Wright revealed that six years ago, he was added to a random iMessage group with a family in the US and, over time, sent each other Christmas messages and stayed involved in each other’s lives.
The messages stopped after a while; however, until recently, when Wright was informed that one of the members of the family, the grandson – also named Dylan Wright – was celebrating his birthday. The family asked Australian Dylan Wright to send a video message wishing American Dylan Wright a happy birthday, but he went further than a simple FaceTime.
Wright sent a care package from Australia, which contained Tim Tams, Milo, and Vegemite, plus some caps to promote his music.
After explaining how his relationship with the family came to be, the video panned to said family, and young Dylan Wright opening his presents from Australia’s Dylan Wright.

Last month, Wright and Matt Joyce, his creative partner in Sons Of Atticus, released the new single, Feels Like It Helps, and teased an album to be released “in the coming months.”
“Feels Like It Helps takes you to the in-between space after heartbreak where nothing is fully healed, but silence is heavier than distraction,” the pair said of the track.
They continued, “A couple of strangers in a barroom find themselves leaning on each other as a quiet attempt to outrun the past. Even though both people know it isn’t love, in that moment, it’s enough to feel like it helps.
“We are always trying to challenge and push ourselves, so having this track heavily feature nylon Spanish-style guitar playing was our way of fusing country roots with genres we also take inspiration from.”
Meanwhile, Wright recently released the solo EP, Crossroads, and embarked on his Songs & Stories Tour.
