A star-studded Dolly Parton documentary will premiere on Netflix on April 7, and feature artists Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton and more.
Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute was filmed in 2019 as part of the celebration when The Recording Academy named Parton its MusiCares Person of the Year. Awarded annually since 1991 by MusiCares, the honour is presented to musicians for their artistic achievement and their dedication to philanthropy. Parton is the first country artist to receive the recognition, joining past recipients such as Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, Carole King and Bruce Springsteen.
Laura Segura, Executive Director of MusiCares, says, "We are so excited to share Dolly Parton's 2019 Person of the Year tribute with music fans all over the world. Not only is Dolly one of the greatest musicians of all time, she also has one of the biggest hearts in the industry and is dedicated to helping musicians and people everywhere."
The show was filmed in Los Angeles in 2019, raising more than $6.7 million for MusiCares, which provides assistance to musicians and their families, and will be hosted by American country music group, Little Big Town.

Among those honouring Parton were Yolanda Adams, Leon Bridges, Parton’s goddaughter Miley Cyrus, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt, and performances from Chris Stapleton, who covered Parton’s anthem 9 to 5, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood did Old Flames (Can’t Hold A Candle To You), and Pink sang a rendition of Jolene.
"I am so happy that Netflix is going to be showing the MusiCares tribute to me," Parton said in a statement. "MusiCares has done so much for the people in this industry and continues to be a beacon of light for those in need. I am so proud and impressed with all of the great artists. It was such a joy and a humbling experience to be able to sit and watch all of the great artists singing songs that I had written or had been a part of."
Parton has earned 11 GRAMMY wins and 50 nominations to date, including her 2021 win in the ‘Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song' category, for her collaboration with Zach Williams. Parton previously teamed with Netflix for the anthology series Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, as well as the recent release Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square.
