There’s a lot happening in the world of Dear Tommie right now, this morning it’s been announced she’s officially teamed up with EMPIRE, the global independent label known for backing artists on the cusp of something big.

The signing comes as Dear Tommie drops her new single The Rough, a track that feels like a step up in both scale and confidence.

It follows a huge 2024, where she quietly built serious momentum off the back of independent releases and landing on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Country: Best of 2024

That growth didn’t go unnoticed. EMPIRE whose roster includes names like Shaboozey and Larry Fleet and Lewis Love, has come on board to help take Dear Tommie’s cinematic, slightly left of centre take on country to a global stage.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Dear Tommie, who is quickly establishing herself as one of the most distinctive new voices in Australian country music,” said Cam Walsh, Australian Territory Manager at EMPIRE. “There’s a confidence and individuality in what she’s creating that immediately resonated with us — she’s not chasing trends, she’s setting her own direction. That kind of clarity is rare, and we see real global potential in her vision. We’re proud to be part of the team supporting what she’s building.”

At the centre of it all is The Rough a track that captures the push and pull of chasing something bigger.

Speaking on the single, Dear Tommie says:

"I wrote this song in 2024, born from a conversation about the long road of chasing dreams and the quiet excuses we tell ourselves when opportunity feels just out of reach. That endless loop of thinking "maybe if I fix this... maybe if I become better at that.... then the door will finally open". The Rough sits right in that tension between ambition and doubt.... persistence and patience."

One thing is abundantly clear; Dear Tommie isn’t just following a path, she’s building one.
